Olive oil soap on your face: one bar for face, body and hands
Yes, olive oil soap can be used on your face: it is traditionally one bar for face, body and hands, and many people wash with nothing else. Wet your face, build a little lather in your hands, wash, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry, starting once a day so you can see how your skin feels.
Same bar for face and body?
Yes. The same bar washes face, body and hands; that is how olive oil soap is traditionally used.
There is no separate face bar to buy. If you keep one bar by the sink and one in the shower, they are the same soap.
How do I wash my face with a bar?
Build the lather in your hands, not on your face, then wash, rinse and pat dry.
- Wet your face with lukewarm water.
- Wet the bar and turn it in your hands for a few seconds, until there is a little lather.
- Put the bar down and wash your face with the lather.
- Rinse well with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Start once a day, so you can see how your skin feels. Keep the lather out of your eyes; if it gets in, rinse with plenty of water.
How will my skin feel?
Clean and soft: real olive oil soap keeps the glycerin it makes, so it washes and softens at the same time.
When olive oil becomes soap it produces glycerin, the same thing you find on the label of a bottle of lotion. Many industrial bars have it taken out; a real bar keeps it.
Everyone's skin is different. If your face is used to a foaming cleanser, the low lather can feel different at first.
What is in the bar, and what is not?
from our questions · Is it really all natural?
Olive oil, water and a handful of natural ingredients. No sulfates, no synthetic fragrance, no dyes, no preservatives. If we ever scent a bar, it is with natural essential oils only; if we ever color one, it is with clays and plants only.
Ingredients are listed in full on every wrap. The exact list is confirmed with our producer before the first batch ships.
Is it anything more than soap?
No. Baraké is a soap for washing, not a medicine, and nothing here is medical advice. Stop using it if irritation occurs.
It is a cosmetic for external use, made to wash with.
Can I wash my hair with it?
You can, but it is a soap, not a shampoo, and hair can feel different washed with it.
Lather the bar in your hands, work the lather through wet hair and rinse well with plenty of water. In hard water any real soap can leave hair feeling heavy or dull, so try it on a day when that does not matter.
